Sugar Beach International Croquet Cup 2025

30th March - 4th April 2025


The Sugar Beach International Croquet Cup returns for its second year in April 2025. Over 6 days, 24 players will enjoy fun competition play balanced with time to enjoy the incredible Sugar Beach Hotel set on the western coast of Mauritius.  Featuring players dinners, sunset cocktail parties, all inclusive 5* accommodation and lawns overlooking the Indian Ocean. With a range of handicaps participating, this is a fun and social tournament held on arguably the most beautiful croquet lawns in the world.

Itinerary

Day 3 - Masterclass & Singles Blocks - Tuesday 1st April 

Hone your skills before you enter into the singles competition with a masterclass from Jenny Clarke in the morning followed by singles qualifiers in the afternoon. 

Morning - A GC Masterclass from one of the best players in the world - Jenny Clarke. 

Afternoon - Singles qualifying blocks A & B play 3 matches after lunch. Players in blocks C, D, E and F get the afternoon off from croquet to enjoy the hotel, go for a round of golf or one of the many other activities included in your package such as snorkeling or paddleboarding.  

Evening - Sunset cocktail party at the beach bar followed by dinner. 


Day 4 - Singles Blocks - Wednesday 2nd April 

Half day play for singles qualifying blocks. 

Morning - Singles qualifying blocks C & D, leaving the afternoon free for these players. 

Afternoon - Singles qualifying blocks E & F,, these blocks have the morning free. 

Evening - Try one  of the many restaurants the hotel has to offer for dinner and grab a drink at the bar after.

Day 1 - Arrival Day - Sunday 30th March 2025

Most flights arrive in the morning, giving you the whole day to get settled in. 

Morning - Arrive in Mauritius, hotel transfers will be provided. 

Afternoon - Get settled into your room and have a dip in the pool. Croquet lawns open for practice. 

Evening - Welcome dinner. All players and partners gather at the Patio restaurant for the welcome dinner and drinks at the beach bar. 


Day 2 - Doubles Competition - Monday 31st March

Get to know everyone in this fun doubles competition where top ranking players are paired with the lowest ranked to give everyone an equal chance and get to know everyone. 

Morning - Doubles Competition blocks

Afternoon - Doubles knockouts ending with drinks on the lawns as all the players watch the final, cocktail in hand as the sun sets. 

Evening - Explore some of the many restaurants the hotel has to offer for dinner and maybe catch a drink at the bar afterwards with your new croquet friends.

Day 5 - Singles Finals - Thursday 3rd April 

Finals day with the grand final hosted on the lawns with hotel guests invited to watch. 

Morning - Plate playoffs for those who have not qualified to the knockout. 

Afternoon - Knockout finals with all hotel guests invited to come and watch the grand final. Drinks on the lawns, participation medals and prize giving for the winners. 

Evening - All players and partners join us for a gala dinner, tables set beside the beach and head to the bar after for a Mauritian send off. 


Day 6 - Departure day - Friday 4th April

Most flights depart in the evening, enjoy your last day at the hotel, or extend your stay for some added relaxation. 

Morning - Relax by the pool or enjoy one of the activities included in your package such as golf, tennis or snorkeling. 

Afternoon - Enjoy lunch on the terrace before having a final dip in the pool and get ready to head to the airport. 

Tournament Format

24 players will compete over 4 days in a relaxed format starting with a 1 day doubles tournament, half a day of singles qualifying block play and culminating in a finals day. 


Day 2 - Doubles Competition - Monday 31st March

All players will be paired up in this fun day of doubles to help you get to know everyone. 

9am - Doubles block play

12pm - Lunch

1pm - Doubles knockouts

5pm - Doubles final and drinks on the lawn

Day 3 - Masterclass & Singles Blocks - Tuesday 1st April 

Get ready for the singles competition with a masterclass session in the morning before you start your singles title run.  

10am - Jenny Clarke will be providing a GC Masterclass for all players. 

12pm - Lunch

2pm - Singles Blocks A & B play 3 matches to qualify for knockouts. 


Day 4 - Singles Blocks - Wednesday 2nd April 

Singles qualifying blocks will play either in the morning or the afternoon, blocks A & B have a day off from croquet to explore. 

9am - Singles qualifying blocks C & D play 3 matches, leaving the afternoon free for these players. 

2pm - Singles qualifying blocks E & F play 3 matches, these blocks have the morning free.
